Triple Entente vs. Triple Alliance (Alliances Divide Europe) |
Introduction
Triple Alliance and Triple Entente, two military alliances that dominated the diplomatic history of Western Europe from 1882 until they came into armed conflict in World War I. When the nations enter a military alliance, each member of the alliance pledges to aid the other members if attacked by a non-member. The problem is that by entering into an alliance, a war between two members of the opposing alliances threatened to drag in all the other member nations that belonged to the Entente and Triple Alliance.
